Krishna is the beloved God of Hindus, and is worshipped in his many forms- cherubic infant, mischievous butter stealing child, enchanter and playful lover of Gopis (milkmaids) and as Arjun’s charioteer who gave the sermons of Bhagvad Gita. He is represented in the Indian traditions in many ways, but with some common features. His iconography typically depicts him with black, dark, or blue skin. In some texts, his skin is poetically described as the color of Jambul (Jamun, the purple-colored fruit Indian gooseberry) and He is often depicted wearing a peacock-feather wreath and playing the bansuri (the Indian flute).

This handmade painting made on canvas and acrylic paints depicts the life story of Lord Krishna from the time he was born to his imprisoned parents, Devaki and Vasudeva and carried outside the prison in a basket by his father through flooded waters to the safe house of Yashoda and Nand to his ultimate ascension into the heavens. The painting is done in traditional Indian style, by Jaipur based artist Neha Jha.
