Story of Ahalya- According to the Ramayana, Ahalya was created by Lord Brahma as the most beautiful woman and married the sage Gautama. Indra, the king of gods, lusted after Ahalya and took advantage of her beauty by disguising himself as Gautama. When Gautama discovered this deceit, he cursed Ahalya to turn into a stone. She would remain in this state until Lord Rama, the seventh avatar of Vishnu, came and touched her with his foot.
